Infrastructure impact tax scrapped as part of reconstruction process

TIRANA, Sept 22 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ The govt. has moved on to scrap the infrastructure impact tax as part of reconstruction process on businesses that have been damaged by Nov 26 earthquake.

Deputy Minister of Finance, Vasilika Vjero, during a televised interview said that “the proposal to incorporate this change in the law on local taxes came from Ministry of Finance and Economy at the request of private operators who have sustained damage to their structures, where they operate and for repairs together with the construction permit they had to pay the infrastructure tax. ”

The infrastructure tax ranges from 4 to 8% of the investment value. At the end of last year, parliament scrapped this tax for the process of housing reconstruction, including family repairs, but left out of the beneficiary group the category of damaged businesses. The changes are slated to take effect by the end of this month.
