Shijak Mayor rejects opposition claims about quake-affected resident as false

TIRANA, Sept 18 /ATA/ – Mayor of Shijak, central Albania, reacted to the claims made by the opposition DP representative Dorian Teliti and a quake-affected resident on Friday, considering them false false and defamatory statements.

Mayor Arbana provided facts against claims made by a local resident called Sali Kokomani, saying that opposition has just misused another quake-affected citizen to support its false claims.

“The opposition is neither fish nor fowl and it has misused another citizen to support its false claims. Sali Kokomani, who has been interviewed by the opposition’s representative, is not the owner of the house damaged by earthquake and he has never reported at the Municipality of Shijak. The house in question is actually owned by his brother,” he said.

“We have facts showing that we have helped people and continue to help them. Even though we don’t always show to the public the assistance we have provided, local residents know quite well who has helped and stood by them in difficult moments,” he added.

“The opposition has remained hostage to its past, while through the work we have done so far we have demonstrated that we are the light at the end of the tunnel caused by the natural disaster,” he underlined.
