TIRANA, September 17 /ATA/ During works in a private property in the municipality of Maliq, it was found an archeological object which according to archaeologists turns out to be a pithos.
The Ministry of Culture confirmed the news saying that, “Immediately after being informed of this discovery, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Korça, set up a working group to conduct a field inspection and preliminary verification of the object.”
According to specialists, the pithos is made of ceramic, mixed with small pebbles, 145 cm by 65 cm and a bottom of 16 cm.
“It is thought that the object belongs to the late archaic-classical period, VI-V B.C. The data lead to the possibility of the existence of another similar object in the field. The field works are expected to bring to light other data “, – said Minister of Culture Elva Margariti.
Maliqi is a settlement with many periods, from the late Neolithic and ends in the archaic period. Maliqi culture is among the most developed in the region. /k.s//a.a//r.e/p.s./
