TIRANA, Sept 10 /ATA/ The Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (ARDA) has so far financed 114 organic farming projects converting about 115 ha of land into organic farms, while in the process of financing are 61 applications with 220 ha of other orchards, through the national support scheme in agriculture, 2020.
ARDA Director, Frida Krifca says that the European Union has set an ambitious goal, that by 2030 about 25% of agricultural land in its territory will be cultivated organically.
The EU countries have prioritized the certification and conversion of farms into organic ones as a result of high demand from consumers for organic products.
“Albania, in the light of goal to develop this approach and leverage the favourable potentials for the development of this sector, has focused its attention in this direction” – says Krifca.
At the same time, she said, the development of organic agriculture is subsidized through business support for establishment or reconstruction of production facilities for traditional produce, encouraging agri-tourism.
