Kakavija situation/ Cakaj talks with Varvitsiotis on the phone

TIRANA, Aug 14 /ATA/ Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, had a telephone conversation with the alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.

Cakaj informed that the conversation focused on easing of border crossing in Kakavija.

“Complying with all measures and reinforcing the groups working at the border, we are constantly monitoring the situation to ease the burden on the border,” he said.

Due to the surge of coronavirus cases in Albania and Greece, the Greek authorities have decided to conduct massive tests on travelers crossing the border.

The MoFA stated earlier that it is holding talks to extend the working hours at the border points, so that citizens can pass the border even late at night.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense have dispatched medical teams and ambulances, as well as made available hygienic-sanitary services.
