TIRANA, August 10 /ATA/- The banking system in the country remains solid and with very good indicators of financial health, guaranteeing the necessary support and contribution to the country’s economy, business and individuals in coping with the situation created by the coronavirus.
ALL 7.15 billion marks the total profits in the banking sector in the first 6 months of 2020.
According to the data of the Bank of Albania in the second quarter of 2020, the profit of the banking system was about ALL 5.8 billion, or almost 5% higher than the same period of the previous year.
For the 6-month period, interest income increased by 0.1% on an annual basis, while interest expenses decreased by 4.8%.
Return on equity, calculated on an annual basis, at the end of June reached 9.1%, increasing for the fourth consecutive month; however, even for this indicator, the figures are lower compared to last year, when the return was estimated at 14.3%. e.xh./ /a.g/p.s./
