Dimal, part of tourist destinations

TIRANA, Aug 7 /ATA/ – A newly-reconstructed central square in the municipality of Dimal was inaugurated on Friday, where ten recreational venues, squares and parks have been built so far.

Minister of Tourism and Environment, Blendi Klosi, attended the inauguration ceremony and noted in his remarks that Dimal should become an important cultural, historic and agri-tourism destination.

Minister Klosi noted that local citizens of the former Ura Vajgurore town backed the toponym change to Dimal.

“Public hearings have been held throughout the community and I am glad to share with you the information that all residents in the four  administrative units of the former municipality of Ura Vajgurore, now the Dimal Municipality, have expressed their readiness to accept the ancient name of their municipality, but their readiness also shows a new spirit that the whole municipality has taken in its four units to promote a new positive feeling to offer the whole region of Berat a new bridge already named Dimal,” Klosi said.

Tourism Minister said that Dimal will definitely add to the countless tourist attractions in Berat district.

“Dimal is the gateway to a tourist destination and projects should be designed to promote agritourism in this area so that local residents offer their hospitality, and tourists visit cultural heritage sites and that Dimal becomes an important destination,” Klosi said.

The Mayor of Dimal, Juliana Memaj, said that a strategic plan for the area’s development has been approved.

“The former Ura Vajgurore, just like we decided to change its toponym to Dimal, has already a strategic development in place and this plan includes components designed to transform it into an important tourist destination,” Memaj said.
