TIRANA, July 27 /ATA/- The United Opposition reacted today against the issue of constitutional changes.
The announcement of the United Opposition states that, “the SP proposal for unilateral changes to the Constitution, which are related to the elections, openly violates the June 5 Agreement, as well as the January 14 Political Agreement”.
“These constitutional changes, in particular, undo some articles of the June 5 Agreement, through which, not only are pre-election coalitions preserved as electoral subjects, but also every party within the coalition continues to retain the right and opportunity to compete with its own special lists”.
“These unilateral changes of the Socialist Party directly change the essential elements of the electoral system with an impact on the electoral result and also change the entire process of electoral administration”, said the opposition.
The United Opposition stated that it “It does not agree with the unilateral constitutional changes that you are trying to impose, through a closed process and where you have excluded the Opposition political parties, which, even in the distorted elections of 2017 “represent half of the voters.”
Even today, the announcement of the opposition continues, in the Parliament, PM Rama spoke against the dialogue and in favor of the unilateral change of the constitution, calling it a closed issue. This shows that despite the will of the United Opposition to continue the political dialogue between the parties in good faith in the Political Council, the Socialist Party continues to behave with the logic of “fait accompli”./e.xh / j.p / r.e /p.s./
