TIRANA, July 24 /ATA/- After the meeting with the allies, the Chairman of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha said in a press conference that the United Opposition is determined to oppose any unilateral decision regarding the Electoral Reform.
Basha stated that the United Opposition will support the opening of 100% of the lists provided that the coalitions are not changed, but remain as they are today and consequently the distribution of seats continues to be calculated according to the current electoral formula. This proposal, according to Basha, will be proposed at the table of the Political Council and is right for many reasons. “First, because you cannot tell the Albanians to open the list and the winning part to be chosen by the party. “In 34 deputies of Tirana, 11 will be elected by the party, 1 or two will be elected by the citizens”, said Basha.
Basha said that the United Opposition has mandated today the representatives of the working group in the Political Council, Oerd Bylykbashi and Petrit Vasili, to present the decision of the United Opposition regarding the open lists.
Basha expressed the position of the united opposition that the June 5 agreement which was voted yesterday in the Assembly is a basis for guaranteeing normal elections.
“The Political Council working group is the only roundtable where a number of unresolved issues related to the OSCE / ODIHR priority recommendations from vote buying to public administration pressure can be discussed,” he said. /j.p/p.s./
