TIRANA, July 21 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – The Secretary-General of the Democratic Party in opposition Gazment Bardhi reacted Tuesday to a statement by Prime Minister Edi Rama on the open MP candidate lists, claiming that the proposed changes to the Constitution aim to eliminate pre-election coalitions between political parties.
According to Bardhi, the true purpose of the constitutional changes is confirmed by the Assembly documents.
“Take a look at the official documents of the Parliamentary Law Committee that show a Prime Minister who lies without blushing. On documents signed by Gramoz Ruçi (Parliament Speaker), it is clearly written that the goal behind the unilateral modification of the Constitution is to ban the pre-electoral coalitions,” Bardhi said.
Bardhi also said that the opposition considers the unilateral change of the Constitution as a violation of the June 5 agreement, when political parties agreed to create pre-electoral coalitions and parties in a certain coalition can run in election through separate candidate lists.
