TIRANA, July 19 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – A new modern system will be installed at the Vau i Dejes hydropower plant, one of three HPPs on the Drin River Cascade, which will undergo complete technological renewal for first time in 50 years, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Sunday.
“After 50 years of work, for first time since it became operational in 1971, Vau i Dejes HPP is undergoing a complete technical renewal and installation of a new modern system to improve operations and management of this HPP on Drin River Cascade,” PM Rama said.
“Albanian government and the Power Corporation, pursuant to the strategy on development of hydro electricity sector are investing in the large hydro power plants to increase power generation efficiency and improve parameters of operations and safety of equipment at Vau i Dejes hydropower plant,” the government head added.
HPP Vau i Dejes was the first hydropower plant built on the Drin River and was put in operation 49 years ago in 1971.
