Balla: Join lists do not ban coalitions; constitutional changes do not change electoral system, guarantee greater citizens’ involvement

TIRANA, July 15 /ATA/  – The Chair of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group Taulant Balla said on Wednesday evening that the new constitutional changes will not change the electoral system, but they simply represent an initial step towards an approach aimed at allowing voters to pick their preferred candidates running in the parliamentary elections.

The senior Socialist official also noted that lists of joint candidates do not ban the pre-electoral coalitions.

“Citizens believe we are at the right time to elect the MPs they want,” Balla said.

“SP has never has adopted its own approach when making decisions in front of the citizens. We are in front of the citizens regarding what we say and what we do, but SP has been always on the side of the citizens. What do the Albanian citizens think?! They think this is the right time to involve citizens in the right selection. I don’t think that the citizens oppose this,” Balla added.

He also confirmed that the Socialist Party will never run counter to the statements made by the international partners.
