Albania, Kosovo committed to unifying customs rules and procedures

TIRANA, July 3 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Albania and Kosovo will unify and simplify the customs rules, practices and procedures to reduce costs and increase legal certainty for economic operators, and boost the capacity and effectiveness of the customs administrations, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Friday.

“Kosovo’s customs point in Durres will not be a first station that will be followed by another second station at Morine border crossing point. It will be a single customs checking point to allow and clear all goods bound for Kosovo,” the government head stated at a joint press conference with Kosovo PM Avdullah Hoti, who is on an official visit to Albania.

PM Rama said that during the bilateral talks, the two discussed ways to further push forward the cooperation between the two countries.

“It is a good omen that Prime Minister Hoti is visiting the country also as one of the protagonists in this whole path of cooperation, since he has held key institutional roles. His undisputed experience and competence is added value to this process. It is not about the political will, which is always present, but about the implementation of the pending agreements, some of them, as some of them have been already implemented and others are in the process,” Rama said.

PM Rama said that the two had discussed ways to unify rules and procedures about trade exchanges between the two countries.
