Emigrants’ vote, Majko: We offer a constitutional right denied for years

TIRANA, June 25/ATA/-Albania’s Minister of Diaspora Pandeli Majko welcomed yesterday’s act of the Political Council that reached agreement on granting the right of vote to the Albanian nationals living abroad.

In his speech delivered today to the Assembly, Majko said that, “The Political Council has taken a very important decision which I want to greet in a special way. Both parties, the majority and the opposition agreed on the right of vote for our nationals abroad”.

“Yesterday the green light was given, I am hopeful that the Electoral Reform Commission will make decisions based on this agreement between all parties. We will offer that constitutional right that we have denied them for years. We have to work hard to ease the Albanian nationals being provided with passports so that to apply the right to vote “, – underlined Majko.

Majko further said that, “The unlimited postponement of passports, especially for those over 75 years of age, is an important act, which affects the interests of our citizens abroad, also due to a number of difficulties, which I hope the Ministry of Interior together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will resolve with the Aleat company./k.s/j.p/p.s./
