TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ The Protected Areas Agency of Durrës announced that visitors have returned to Qafshtama park.
Qafshtama, one of the main attractions for local and foreign visitors alike, is situated 25 km off Kruja.
Qafa lies at an altitude of 1.230 m and serves as a linking bridge between the zone of Kruja and Mati valley to the north against the backdrop of an endless horizon stretching as far as Mount Deja.
Entire area is famed for its abundant natural beauties and unspoiled forests.
Also, its water sources are rich in curative properties, but the “Queen Mother” spring near Qafështama, about 1100 m above the sea level, in the midst of the pine forest is the most famous of all.
The spring is named after Queen Mother since the old Albanian royal family “Zog” had chosen to use water from this source for home consumption.
The National Park of Qafshtama encompassing around 20 km 2 has been declared a protected area in 1966. /j.p/sm/
