No country makes electoral reform by consensus, but by votes in Parliament

TIRANA, June 4/ATA/-Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that, “In the draft of the German Bundestag, before it turned into an approved document and then included in the document of the European Commission and approved by the Council, the first version carried the consensus that was further removed precisely to prevent any party from taking the elections hostage ”.

In his speech to the Assembly, PM Rama stressed that, “A very clear framework has been established, from which the parties cannot come out if they do not want to come out. And neither party can force the other out of the framework of the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations ”.

“The Bundestag’s recommendation states an electoral reform based on the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations approved by the Parliament,” PM Rama said.

Further on, the prime minister said that, “Albania or Kosovo for completely different reasons, are unique cases. Even in Italy, Greece, France, nowhere else are electoral reforms consensual. It’s very simple: whoever has the votes in the Parliament has the right to make the reform he sees fit. ”

Speaking about the negotiations on the Electoral Reform, PM Rama said that “I am very sorry that in 2020 Albanian politics needs foreign ambassadors to come in between, to go and come, to make the Albanian-Albanian translator in English and simply facilitate the communication process ”./k.s/ /a.g//r.e/p.s./
