TIRANA, May 6 /ATA/ – Albanian farmers could file their applications via the online e-Albania platform to gain funding support for their investment projects under the national agricultural financing schemes, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dhimo Kote, told Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) on Wednesday.
Kote noted that given the lockdown measures because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Agriculture will apply reduced procedures for the farmers’ applications for support.
According to him, farmers may start lodging their applications by end of May. The agricultural financing schemes this year will manly support investment project to start cattle and livestock farms.
The Deputy Agriculture Minister said that the calls for applications will be preceded by a broad media and online information campaign, because mass gatherings and consultations with farmers are temporary banned due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Albanian government has approved a National Agricultural Financing Scheme worth 743,9 million lek for 2020 and more than 4,000 farmers are expected to receive funding for their investment projects in agriculture.
In addition to the supporting livestock sector, a part of the funding will be used to subsidize the plastics price, projects to cultivate medicinal plants and herbs, certification of the agricultural products and organic farms, as well as diversification of the economic activities in the rural areas.
