TIRANA, May 5 /ATA/ – The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Besa Shahini, said Tuesday evening that students could return to the universities in the first week of June to attend lectures on certain subjects that cannot be taught online.
Education Minister noted in a TV interview that private universities could have succeeded in better organizing the online schooling due to the smaller number of their students and they are some steps ahead of the public universities.
“What we have decided following discussions with experts and based on the proposal forwarded by the rectors is issuing a directive for the universities to complete the academic year. We asked rectors to propose their plans on the potential return of the graduating students at all study programs, who may need to repeat important subjects and attend laboratory-based learning sessions and plans for the graduating students to sit their exams in July,” Shahini said.
“The students of lower programs will sit their exams in September by respecting the safety protocols, physical distancing and personal hygiene rules,” she said.
