TIRANA, April 28 /ATA/- Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected today the works on “Ura e Vashës”, the highest bridge in the region, 152 m, already almost completed. The bridge is part of “Arbri” road.

“Today, at the “Ura e Vashës”, the highest bridge in the region, 152 m, already almost completed. 5 of the 6 tunnels have been opened and work is underway on the main tunnel of Murriz, where due to geological formations it will run parallel to a panoramic bypass so as not to delay the opening of the road next year “, said PM Rama.

On her part, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku informed PM Rama that out of 70 km that “Arbri” Road has and 6 tunnels, 5 tunnels have been completed and more than 54 km can be used.

According to Balluku, the company is in the process of laying asphalt, which it will carry out during May.

“In spite of the fact that the works are in the 22nd month, so we are in the middle of the contract, they have progressed and have advanced beyond the planned schedule. We had a little delay in March, as we had to stop working on the construction site for a few weeks, due to COVID-19, but with the security measures that have been taken, with masks, glasses and gloves, the work is continuing normally. ” said Balluku.

The minister also informed that together with the Albanian Road Authority, there is under discussion another technical solution for the Murrizi tunnel. “It was the most complex part, which took time to move forward,” Balluku said.

The project executive engineer expressed his hope of being able to complete it within the contract, although it is in a difficult mountainous terrain, and that the best engineering solutions are being implemented.

While Head of the Road Authority Ergys Verdho informed the prime minister that in cooperation with the Institute of Geology they have drafted a new variant for the Murrizi tunnel, a project which has been sent to the ministry for approval and which will pave the way to the works to progress. /a.gjonaj/j.p/r.e/p.s./
