Albania begins to apply serological test today

TIRANA, April 20/ATA/-Beginning from today, in Albania will begin to be applied a new test for the identification of coronavirus, the serological test.

Director of the promotion sector at the Institute of Public Health Gentjana Qirjako told reporters that the serological test is a method to measure the level of infection in the country.

“Serological tests consist of a blood test. Their main goal is to show if a person has developed antibodies after COVID-19 has entered his body. These are tests that allow us to understand the situation of the infection in the country. If a person has antibodies, it is assumed that he is protected, although it is not known exactly how long the antibodies last, “said Qirajko.

“After the tenth day, immunoglobulin G is formed, which indicates the body’s reaction to the virus, and the moment it appears, it is a positive sign because it shows that the rate of infection has been declining,” said the doctor. She stressed that these tests will be performed first on doctors, then on law enforcement officers and then on the population.

The serological test is like a regular blood test and aims to track the antibodies that show how protected a person is from having an infection in the body. Serological testing will be performed in the microbiology laboratory at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center by Institute of Public Health experts. z.tosku. /a.a/p.s./
