TIRANA, March 12 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ “Slowing down the spread of coronavirus through drastic measures creates two major advantages, it reduces the likelihood of hospitalizations outnumbering the country’s hospital capacity, which caused the collapse of Lombardy’s health system, one of the best systems, and gives time until the vaccine comes out or temperature increase that can weaken the virus. ”
This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Thursday in a message to Albanian citizens. “Taking it for granted and saying ‘come on, it will soon be a thing of the past and we will go about our business as usual, you run the risk of heading to a national catastrophe on your own feet,” Rama said.
Therefore, Prime Minister said, today we have taken a number of new measures as part of our strategic plan.
“Offering my humble apologies, I ask your understanding and adhere to them. Sorry, but this war is not won otherwise. From Friday 6:00 am to midnight Sunday, private and interurban transport to Tirana and Durres or vice versa from Tirana and Durres to other areas of the country will be suspended. From Friday at 06:00 to midnight on Sunday the circulation of private vehicles in Tirana and Durres, as well as interurban transport between Tirana and Durres will be suspended,” Rama said.
Likewise, the PM informed that “from Friday at 06:00 to midnight on Sunday the circulation of private vehicles and inter-urban lines in Shkodra, Lezha, Elbasan, Lushnja, Fier and Vlora will be suspended.”
“The ban will not apply to ambulances, vehicles performing state service functions and those transporting goods,” Rama said.
The prime minister announced that “these extreme measures to restrict freedom of movement are a necessity to protect every citizen, every family and Albania itself from the aggressive escalation of the coronavirus attack on us and our loved ones.”
