TIRANA, March 4 /ATA/ – By Gjergji Mima/ – The US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim, declared the process of reconstruction should involve transparency, accountability and results.
Speaking at the meeting of National Reconstruction Committee held at the govt. meetings hall, Kim said:
“We welcomed the invitation to hear your plans on reconstruction of the country after the Nov 26 earthquake.”
“We are very happy, the US is very happy to have been part of the Donors’ Conference hosted by EU. The impressive output of this conference is not only an expression of the solidarity with Albanian people, but also a symbolic and real investment for Albania,” Kim said.
“So it is a pleasure for us to see how you get organized to conduct what you spelled out, a process based on transparency, accountability and results,” Kim said.
Ambassador Kim went on saying that this is not going to be the last case of US standing by the side of Albania in difficult times.
“We will continue to be at your side, providing the technical assistance you need to ensure that donations from different countries around the world, including our donations, are well spent to the benefit of Albanian citizens, ”Kim said.
