TIRANA, March 1/ATA/- The support that Albania received from the Donors’ Conference was not only a gesture of human solidarity, but it was also a clear political support for Albania on its path towards the EU, the SP MP Edvin Bushati told the Albania Telegraphic Agency (ATA).
In his remarks, Bushati said that, after Albania raised in the Donors’ Conference EUR 1.15 billion for reconstruction of damage caused by Nov 26 2019 earthquake, the public recovery investments will double in value in the next 2-3 years.
“The amount is expected to cover the country’s recovery needs after the strongest earthquake to hit Albania in more than 30 years killed 51 people, increased the poverty rate by 2.3% and hit more than 1% of GDP. It is estimated that 220,000 people – the equivalent of 10% of the country’s population – has been affected, “ Bushati told ATA.
Speaking about the the VAT removal for all goods which will be used for the reconstruction of buildings destroyed by the earthquake, Bushati said that “the Albanian government has made every effort to stimulate construction and provide the quake-affected families with new homes as soon as possible.” //a.i/
