TIRANA, Feb 24 /ATA/- Copper processing industry is another important sector for economy of the country which has seen an increase of production last year.
According to statistics, from year to year the mining sector is increasing its potential in economy, a contribution which accounted for over 3 % of Gross Domestic Product.
Investments in increasing the utilization of new resources or new minerals is one of the factors driving the production and exports of this sector.
The total production realized as a 9-month period of 2019 is estimated at 4,190,449 tonnes of minerals and 2,510,250 m3 of minerals (this estimation is realized due to the fact that some minerals such as construction ones are reported in m3).
According to statistics, copper production for 9 months 2019 increased by 56% compared to the same period last year.
Albania is rich in various mineral resources. Their discovery, exploitation and processing is an important business for the country’s economy. Traditionally, the extraction and mineral processing industries such as chromium, copper, iron, coal have generated substantial revenues.
