TIRANA, February 23/ATA/- The new bill on payments aims to reduce cash flow through innovative payment services that reduce costs and increase transparency.
The draft law prepared by the Bank of Albania aims to improve the payment services in our country. The draft law has been submitted to the Albanian Parliament and its focus is on the regulatory aspect of payment services, encouraging more and more credit card transactions, telephone payments, etc.
In our country, there is still a high level of use of cash. This is reflected in the low percentage of the population over 15 who have bank accounts.
The Bank of Albania expects that in concrete terms, this bill will significantly boost market competition and promote innovative services, also supported by a cautious regime in terms of consumer protection.
The draft law also aims at expanding the provision of services by banks throughout the Albanian territory (including rural areas)./e.xh/p.s./
