President Meta issues decree announcing Constitutional Court vacancy

TIRANA, Nov 22 /ATA/ – President of the Republic Ilir Meta issued Friday a decree announcing a vacancy created in Albania’s Constitutional Court after the Special Appeals Panel (KPA) announced a day ago the dismissal of Besnik Muçi, nominated just a few weeks ago by President as the first member of the Constitutional Court.

Earlier today, the Constitutional Court removed Muçi’s name from its website, no longer listing him as a member. Yesterday’s ruling by the KPA reduces the number of members of the Constitutional Court to four again, while the chances remain that it can become operational with six members.

The Constitutional Court has also notified the President of the Republic of the vacancy following Muçi’s dismissal.
