TIRANA, November 12/ATA/- The implementation of European standards by all market players will guarantee quality service more safety for consumers.

Beginning from January 1, 2020, all elevators to be installed and put into service in the apartment blocks countrywide will be marked with a safety certificate (CE).

The Ministry of Finances and Economy announced that in order to increase the safety of citizens and to ensure full compliance with EU directives, all the elevators that will enter the Albanian market must be marked with the safety certificate.

To this end, the State Market Surveillance Inspectorate held a roundtable discussion on the “Role of builders, importers, engineers and authorized bodies providing safety of the elevators”, with private market actors and representatives of civil organizations focusing on the protection of customers.

Chief Inspector Lavdrim Sahitaj said that the Albanian legislation has already been adapted to EU directives and all stakeholders will have to be involved in its implementation.

“In compliance with the legislation on the new elevators to be put into service beginning from January 1, 2020, the need arises for a thorough initial examination of all the existing elevators.
