TIRANA, Nov 5 /ATA/ – Two teachers from Albania opened the first Albanian language classes in the village of Karakurt, in Southern Ukraine, where an Albanian ethnic minority group is located.

The two teachers, namely Afërdita Skura and Ermelinda Delialliasi started delivering language classes to children of the Albanian community there.

The Minister of State for the Diaspora Pandeli Majko said that the first Albanian language classes in Karakurt were opened under a special project being implemented by the National Diaspora Agency.

“The program is designed to improve knowledge of Albanian language amid the communities in the Albanian diaspora and develop tailored programs for each community based on level of language proficiency,” Majko said.

The project will extend to the Ukrainian towns of Gamovka, Divnyns’ke and Tyushki. The additional Albanian language classes will be taught through the use of textbooks provided by the Diaspora Publications Centre.
