Tirana, Nov 1 /ATA/- At the Albanian Post affiliates in Tirana, where most retirees withdraw their pensions, work is running as normal this Friday.
During a survey conducted by ATA at several affiliates of the Albanian Post, the pension disbursing agent which operates on behalf of Social Insurance Institute, there are no obstacles to disbursement of pensions.
When asked by ATA, the pensioners say that they have withdrawn the pensions on due date and the recent years have seen no delays.
Deputy PM Erion Braçe stated that the liability of budget institutions to Social Insurance Institute is estimated at EUR 3.6 mln adding that this amount does not risk the pension scheme.
“The pension scheme is robust, significantly improved on every indicator, including solvency to pay every penny of pensions and on time,” he said.
Even the head of Social Security Astrit Hado assured all Albanians that SII has no problem in terms of solvency to pay pensions.
“Social Insurance Institute has all the funds available to pay the pensions and there is no reason for citizens to concern themselves with this issue,” he said.
Currently the Social Insurance Institute cooperates with a number of pension disbursement agents such as Albanian Post and several second-level banks.
This new approach significantly reduces bureaucracies, as well as delays in payments. This service is provided free of charge by Albanian Post and second-level banks, and citizens do not pay any additional costs for the service they receive.
There are 650,000 pensioners across the country.
