TIRANA, Oct 18 /ATA/ – Today we are in the city of Durrës which has seen a number of works to the benefit of community and tourism development which continue to this day.
Our focus is on “Taulantia” promenade in Durrës, referred to as “Lungomare II, in the country. For the locals the area called “Vollga” is the landmark of the city, the intersection of all streets inside the city.
Right here from the Port to the Sphinx, as Durres citizens proudly orient themselves, the Albanian Development Fund is conducting the reconstruction of Taulantia Square.
What is merely a pavement construction in the eyes of many skeptics, is in fact an investment spanning an area 67.000 m2.
Divided into 3 main water-front sites, where operation is running at high rates, 80% of the sea protection works have been carried out.
This entails the construction of the wall in zone 2 and the stairs and beams b / a in zone 1, as well as stone filling in the sea in zone 1 and 2.
Also, the Albanian Development Fund has carried out a part of the excavation and filling works in zone 1 and 2, as well as the removal of existing pavement tiles. The latter, as a result of their depreciation, posed a threat to pedestrians’ safety and aesthetic uniformity.
The purpose of this project is to redefine the relationship of this area with the urban areas adjacent to it, with the center and historic landmarks, as part of the main objective to enhance and enrich the system of public spaces and integrate them with one another.
Throughout a 950 m long coastline, the works entail green areas, flowerbeds that cover a 21,000m area, including the planting of about 500 trees and about 6500 ornamental shrubs.
The Albanian Development Fund has been implementing projects for construction of modern infrastructure in the city of Durres. Meanwhile the urban requalification and furnishing of these areas will bring sustainable and long-term development in terms of tourism and economy.
