Cakaj: Absence of consensus on negotiations due to different visions on EU structural reform

TIRANA, October 18/ATA/-Albania’s Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj stated today that despite the absence of consensus in the European Council on opening of EU accession negotiations, Albania will continue with implementation of reforms and make further efforts in function of the European aspiration of the country.

According to Minister Cakaj, Albania’s membership is not due to conflicting interpretations of the country’s progress, but due to different visions for structural reform of the European Union in general.

“There is no absolute agreement on beginning of the membership talks with Albania and North Macedonia, but there is full agreement that both countries have met all the conditions set out in the June 2018 conclusions,” said Cakaj./m.z/ /a.g/p.s./
