TIRANA, Sept 10 /ATA/ The DP head, Lulzim Basha, stated from Brussels in response to the media, after attending the EPP meeting that the state of play in the process of EU accession is not satisfactory, instead it has become more difficult due to the country’s slowdown in fulfillment of the requirements.
Basha cited the OSCE/ODIHR report to point out that an anti-constitutional election process was held in the country. Time is high for opposition to raise its voice and unpack its vision to get out of the crisis.
“In EPP’s political assembly, I managed to convince our counterpart parties of the importance of a political decision at this difficult timing for Albania.”
“A political decision which on one hand will signal that Europe has its doors open to Albanian people and on the other to get a clear message across to the Albanian authorities that EU, member countries, through process of accession talks, will increase pressure on Albania. Such pressure will help overcome constitutional, democratic and institutional crisis of the country through the only tool recognized by Europe and democracy, free and fair elections,” Basha stated.
