TIRANA, Sept. 5 /ATA/ – After ten years of long delays, the works to construct viaducts along the Kukes-Morine road segment completed on Thursday, a project that will significantly increase road safety along the four-lane highway between Albania and Kosovo.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, accompanied by the Head of the National Road Authority Sonila Qato, and the Mayor of Kukes Safet Gjici, inspected the completion of construction works along this road segment.
The Director of the National Road Authority Sonila Qato the project included a series of major and highly complex works, which were given the right solution by the contracted company.
“The good news is that we open seven viaducts to the traffic together with other relevant elements of the 13-km road infrastructure. The entire 13-km road is now open to the road users along the Road of the Nation, significantly increasing road safety,” the head of the National Road Authority said.
On her part, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy noted that the road segment finally adds to the national roads map. The construction work has now completed and the segment is accessible and open to traffic. Construction of the viaduct along the Kukes-Morine road segment has also been a challenge for the construction industry in the country, as building a special crane was needed to carry out works to construct a 46-meter high viaduct.
