TIRANA, Aug 29 /ATA/- Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, stated Thursday that migration of nurses is not an emergency situation.
In a televised interview, minister Manastirliu said that migration of nurses is not an Albanian phenomenon, instead it has affected other countries. Italy is going through a crisis of medical professionals, as they go to more developed countries for a better pay. Romania and Hungary have also coped with this phenomenon, the regional countries either, including Albania.
“The figures of nurses’ migration are inconsistent with those of the Ministry of Health. It is a fact that nurses are attending language courses to work in another country. Germany is attracting more nurses and doctors.”
Minister Manastirliu added that we have an outpouring of requests to enter the public system and thanks to the portal ‘Nurses for Albania’, we identify these requests on a periodic basis. As the last call opened in August, the list of nurses to be tested was announced today with roughly 1700 nurses slated to sit the test. ”
According to her, entire public system numbers 6300 doctors. /k.s/r.e/sm/
