TIRANA, August 28/ATA/- The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta received in a meeting the deputy chairperson of CDU/CSU parliamentary group for Europe, Bundestag MP Katja Leikert.
The President of the Republic of Albania, Ilir Meta reiterated Wednesday that, general and presidential elections should be held to solve the country’s political crisis.
According to Meta, Albania should hold general and presidential elections on Oct. 13, the date which he had earlier decreed for the local elections and which the ruling majority eventually rejected.
During the meeting, President Meta praised the excellent relations between Albania and Germany, and the special attention Germany is paying to Albania, the region and our European perspective.
The head of state expressed his grateful thanks for the great commitment of the Bundestag and especially of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group to preventing the deepening of political crisis in the country, while stressing that if the benevolent suggestions of CDU leaders would have been duly considered , the situation today would have been quite different.//a.i/
