Marin Orhanasi: New decent theatre building needed

TIRANA, Aug 26 /ATA/ – Marin Orhanasi is one of the most talented and most celebrated actors of his generation in Albania.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on Monday a statement by the renowned comedian and stage actor Marin Orhanasi, who has performed in more than 30 premieres on the Theatre’s stage and calls for construction of a new modern and decent National Theatre building.

Stressing the need for construction of a new modern theatre on the site of the existing derelict building, the renowned actors says “the National Theatre building is home to some 10 species of scorpions and many other snake species.”

“Thanks God the building hasn’t collapsed and has resisted to date. For me, a new and decent theatre building is a must. It is not my competence to decide who is going to build the new theatre and I don’t think this is none of an artist’s business. Why shouldn’t I leave my imprints on a new modern theatre? That legendary theatre didn’t become as such because of the building, but because of the names of great actors. The logic behind this statement is that a decent hall and a new theatre is needed. This is for sure. You should understand that it is not only the actors who are heroes, but the spectators too, because that theatre hall lacks heating and air conditioning. That’s why the show and play season is often suspended, but this should not happen,” PM Rama writes, quoting actor Marin Orhanasi.
