TIRANA, August 14/ATA/-The firefighters succeeded to extinguish the fire last night in Zapod area, one of the protected areas of the Korab-Koritnik Park.
The Municipality of Kukes got mobilized to isolate and extinguish the fire shortly after the fire broke out in a massive pine forest in Zapod area.
The Protected Area Administration employees, village residents and Kukës Fire Service employees fought in difficult terrain and conditions of limited visibility with the fire until late at night.
Kukes Mayor Safet Gjici said that after the fire broke out, the fire officers of the Municipality, the National Agency of Protected Areas and the inhabitants of the area worked for several hours and extinguished the fire.
He appealed to citizens to notify at any time of any fire occurrence. /z.tosku/ j.p/p.s./
