Voda: Application for ID cards and passports continues non-stop

TIRANA, August 9 /ATA/- Application offices for ID cards or biometric passports are open on Saturdays as well as on holidays.

Deputy Minister of Interior Rovena Voda inspected on Friday the new office of biometric documents in the Municipality of Vlora. During the inspection, she was accompanied by Director General of Registry Office Bledar Doracaj and local authorities.

Speaking to reporters, Voda said that the number of applications in July was extremely high.

“As a matter of fact, out of 1 million and 400 thousand applicants in total for new IDs, in July, we had 500 thousand citizens who applied, while 900 thousand citizens have not applied yet. I’m talking about July, but in fact August has been a real boom. The flow has been very high and statistics will be released at the end of the month, but the flow is still high,” said Voda.

A great number of citizens, about 1.4 million Albanians, have their 10-year documents expired during the first half of 2019.

For the first time, in 2009 in Albania were produced biometric passports and ID cards./p.s./
