“100 villages” program, Shëngjergj transformed into tourist destination

TIRANA, July 17/ATA/- The Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Wednesday the inn “Tomadhe” in Shëngjergj, a private business taken on the initiative of Albina Çuko, who rebuilt the ancestors’ dwelling house with the financial support of the Government, through the Fund on Agriculture and Rural Development Program.

The natural beauties and monuments of cultural heritage make Shëngjergj village, located about 40 km in the east of Tirana, a destination worth visiting during the weekend.

Albina Çuko was encouraged by this fact to transform her house into an agri-tourism point. She applied in 2018 for subvention from the national scheme in agriculture.

Given that Shëngjergj has been included in the project of 100 villages and as a possessor of the dwelling house, she took the initiative and applied to the Agency of Rural Development”.

Thanks to assistance of the agency, Çuko succeeded to transform the house into an inn. Today, the house hosts a large number of local and foreign guests.

In Shëngjergj, tourists can visit the waterfall, the ruins of the castle, the Cave of Val, the sacred place, the old tomb, as well as the pit mountain.//a.i/
