TIRANA, July 2/ATA/-Ambassador Audrey Glover who led the team of OSCE/ODIHR observers of the June 30 local elections in Albania stated that it is up to the Albanian authorities to decide on what they will do with the June 30 elections results.
And she considered implementation of the electoral reform in Albania an indispensability that needs to be implemented as soon as possible.
Speaking in an interview for Deutsche Welle (DW), ambassador Glover said that they are following with great interest the complaints as they are an important part of the electoral process.
“I am satisfied with the fact that on the Election Day there was not recorded any serious act of violence.”
“The elections were held in a tranquil and orderly way and this is a very good thing while taking into consideration the violence in different zones of the country during the recent months”, said she.
“But, while the electoral process has not finished yet, I cannot yet appreciate it as a whole”, said Glover.
Glover also emphasized the fact that in 31 municipalities out of 61 there were no challenging candidates. Thus, the electors didn’t have the opportunity of making elections in the real sense of the word.
Glover said that the OSCE/ODIHR final report will carry impartial assessments and opinions on the June 30 local elections./k.s/p.s./
