TIRANA, June 29 /ATA/ – The President of the Republic Ilir Meta called on citizens to remain calm on the local election day as Albanian citizens will vote to elect the new mayors and city council members in 61 municipalities across the country on Sunday.
“Dear citizens, I would like to reiterate my appeal to respect everyone’s decision in a civilized and democratic manner tomorrow. Again I invite you all to remain calm and act wisely! It is crucially important for everyone to show self-restraint,” President Meta is quoted as saying.
In his message, the head of state puts emphasis on the tremendous importance of maintaining social peace tomorrow.
“We should serve social peace and Albania’s European future. Shun provocation that could lead you to violence so that the political differences do not threaten civic coexistence in every family, neighborhood, village, city, and our entire society,” Meta stated.
