TIRANA, June 29/ATA/-The bank deposits of individuals, businesses, state institutions, non-profit organizations and others reached the amount of 994 billion lekë by the end of May 2019.
The Bank of Albania reported that the 12-month deposits for the period May 2018/May 2019 got increased by 25,8 billion lekë or 2,6%.
According to the Bank of Albania, the deposits in hard currency in May amounted to 53,7% of the total deposits as compared with 52,6% during the same period a year ago.
The bankers say that the low interest rates in the local currency Lek have encouraged deposits in hard currency that yield a higher interest rate./e.xh/r.e/p.s./
