TIRANA, June 27/ATA/-The ruling Socialist Party Parliamentary Whip Taulant Balla said today that, “Albania will hold the local elections on June 30 and I call on all the people to turn out and vote for the 61 mayors”.
Speaking on television, Balla considered President Ilir Meta’s decree setting October 13 as the new date of elections a carnival game that has no connection at all with the role and the powers of the president.
“June 30 is a sealed date if we also refer to the decision of the Electoral College against the decision of the president to cancel the June 30 elections”, said Balla.
Balla reminded that the president has violated the Constitution with his actions and after June 30, the Parliament will set up a commission for investigation of these violations and vote to oust the president.
He added that the socialists did the utmost that the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration in opposition to take part in these elections, but they decided to boycott these elections. /e.xh/j.p/p.s./
