TIRANA, June 26 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of the ruling Socialist Party, said at an electoral campaign meeting in the town of Gramsh on Wednesday afternoon it was first time in Albania’s political history that “a political party decides to really boycott elections after threatening it would do so.”
“It even went that far by initiating bombing activities, threatening and warning people that it would allow nobody to cast their votes. It has never happened that this country’s opposition resorts to violence on the streets, while the President resorts to actions of institutional violence through decrees. This is violence from the state’s highest institution,” Rama stated.
“All this just to stir the idea that this country doesn’t deserve opening the EU membership talks and the country has plunged into chaos. This is the first time when a part of the political establishment takes pleasure into the heinous acts of violence against the institutions,” he stated.
