TIRANA, June 21 /ATA/ – Minister of State for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko, stated on Friday that the opposition should take the case on local elections to Constitutional Court it is thinks the elections are illegitimate.
In a televised interview, Majko said that all that matters is to avoid confrontation. I find it simply beyond imagination how DP, the party born out of thirst for freedom, can deter people from casting the ballot. If they think that cancellation of June 30 local elections is unlawful, they better go to Constitutional Court instead of setting schools on fire.
According to Majko, no one is willing to risk his life and of his family to serve the politicians. Today SP has no chances to go backwards. DP has the right to demand nullification of electoral process. It better go to court rather than let the people clash with one another. This is the right thing to do.
Majko went on saying that the Constitutional Court has not been dissolved by decision of SP leadership. The Constitutional Court has come to that position due to a process passed with 140 votes in Parliament. Once Constitutional Court rules local elections unlawful, they will be repeated.
