TIRANA, June 14/ATA/-The Vice Chairman of the Central Election Commission Denar Biba said today that “This institution is facing problems in some of the country’s municipalities, which are run by Democratic Party mayors, as they are not recognizing June 30 as the date for local elections.”
Being a guest to a television studio, Biba, a representative of the Socialist Party, warned these mayors that obstructing the elections is a penal offense and very soon they will be denounced if they fail to cooperate on preparation of elections.
“We have had some problems with mayors belonging to right-wing parties. They don’t accept election date and are not cooperating with election preparations. I say, obstruction of the elections is a penal offense and very soon they will be denounced,” said Biba./m.m/j.p/p.s./
