Cakaj: Elections will be held on June 30 and no force can hinder this process

TIRANA, June 3 ATA/- The opposition’s violence is unacceptable, as it harms the image of Albania, which actually needs to establish a good reputation internationally, the Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj, stated.

The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Cakaj attended Monday a joint press conference with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Miroslav Lajčák.

In his speech Cakaj stated that, “the opposition’s violence is unacceptable to the image of Albania. It does not positively contribute to implementation of quality reforms that Albania needs to undertake at this stage. And also it does not positively contribute to the maintenance of the momentum towards the delicate process of the opening of EU accession negotiations with Albania.”

“It is very important that the local elections to be held on June 30 without any discussion and there is no force that can hinder this process. Also, Albania’s electoral and constitutional calendars will be strictly respected,” Cakaj stressed.//a.i/
