TIRANA, June 2 ATA/- Recreational tourism on the Vjosa and its tributaries is ever-increasing, particularly in recent years in which enthusiasts have started to enjoy activities such as rafting, canoeing, and kayaking.
Local tourists, as well as foreign tourists, in addition to climbing the mountain, can also enjoy rafting, waterfalls, canyons, natural monuments, castles, cult objects and quality food and service.
“Tepelena explorer” is the first water-based tourism agency that made its presentation possible during the Ali Pasha’s Week.
“A trip to Vjosa river can be one of the most beautiful experiences you have ever had and this must definitely be on your agenda when you visit Tepelena,” municipality of Tepelena stated.
The Vjosa River in Albania is one of Europe’s last living wild rivers. Along its entire course of over 270 kilometers it is untamed and free flowing and characterized by beautiful canyons, braided river sections, islands, oxbows and meandering stretches. In some areas the riverbed expands over more than 2 km in width. However, what makes this river really outstanding internationally is the fact, that almost all its tributaries are free-flowing and intact as well, creating a living rivers network that is without par in Europe.
Himara and Tepelena municipalities have created the first tourist itinerary in the area between the villages of Borsh, Qeparo, and Pilur toward Kurvelesh highlands. The itinerary begins in Borsh up to Kuc, through Nivica Canyons, continues in Vjosa Valley until it reaches Zagoria area.//a.i/
