First Dutch-language travel guide for Albania published in the Netherlands

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ – Not long time ago, Albania was an unknown part of Europe, cut off from the outside world, but now it is an emerging tourist destination of indescribable beauty, kind and hospitable people and monuments of culture.

This is an excerpt taken from the first Dutch-language travel guide for Albania published by Domenicus.

The first copy of the Dutch-language travel guide for Albania, prepared by Yvonne van Och, specializing in art, culture, science and travel, was handed to Albania’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Adia Sakiqi, during an event at Pied à Terre library in Amsterdam.

The travel guide’s author passionately lists the reasons why one should visit Albania from north to south, in an invitation to her Dutch fellow citizens.

“Anyone who becomes acquainted with the history of this country, which is in many ways harsh, will be surprised at the openness and friendliness of the people. The unspoilt landscape with dense forests, alpine meadows and white mountain peaks, and many other attractions of indescribable beauty,” the author writes.

“There is also a rich variety of beach options, from the luxury Riviera in the south to the pleasant simplicity in the north. And cities and villages, no matter how windy they are, share their historical treasures generously, without fully revealing the mystery of their unique Eurasian culture,” she notes.

The guide offers a list of reasons why Albania is a must-see destination, including descriptions about the country’s countless top tourist destinations from Theth, Valbona, Divjakë-Karavasta park, Voskopoja, Blue Eye, Përmeti, Kruja, Bylisi, Tirana and the country’s south with its stunning beaches.
