TIRANA, May 31 /ATA/- Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj, invited to the first international conference “Taking the city back” dedicated to child-friendly cities held in Tirana on the eve of international children’s day highlighted the importance of local govt., business and community coordinating their efforts for creation of child- friendly spaces.
“Triangular cooperation local govt.- business- community is crucial to development of our cities and creation of friendly spaces not only for children but also for other community groups,” Denaj said.
With regard to the govt.’s contribution to the pillar that falls within my remit, the minister said, it is important to recall what Albanian govt. has done in these years. First of all, decentralization of multiple roles in decision-making, giving local authorities more powers to design their policies, set the direction of local government along with their community. Of course, this task is followed by any each mayor.
“It is important that in the light of decentralization project we set goals and measure performance. Of course, coordination local and central govt. is consistent, built on objective goals of planning, however performance and indicators are quite as much important, so in this conference we will learn more about the criteria that would help us build a friendly city and measure whether we are doing the right thing at the right time,” Denaj said.
